T-RT2018 UV Secondary Coating Resin: Specialized Material for Precision Optical Fiber Coating

T-RT2018 UV Secondary Coating Resin is a high-performance ultraviolet-curable material specifically developed for secondary coating processes of optical fibers. It utilizes unique nano-enhancement technology to optimize both the mechanical protection and optical performance of the coating layer. This category of fiber coating material offers excellent rheological properties and rapid curing speed, achieving second-level curing within the 250-450nm UV spectrum. It serves as a key chemical material in fiber manufacturing for protecting bare fiber surfaces and enhancing mechanical strength.

Regarding material performance, T-RT2018 demonstrates three technical advantages: First, its post-cure modulus is adjustable within 0.5-1.5 GPa, with elongation exceeding 80%, effectively buffering microbending loss. Second, its refractive index is tunable between 1.48-1.52, forming good optical matching with fiber cladding to suppress interface reflection. Third, it exhibits excellent resistance to damp heat aging, maintaining over 90% of its properties after 1000 hours at 85°C/85% RH, meeting Telcordia GR-20-CORE standards. Its curing shrinkage is less than 2%, with a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) that matches quartz fibers well, effectively avoiding additional stress caused by temperature variations.

This type of UV-curable material is primarily used for secondary coating of telecommunication fibers such as G.652.D and G.657.A2, as well as precision coating of specialty fibers like polarization-maintaining fibers and sensing fibers. Actual production data shows its curing speed reaches 300 m/min, with coating thickness uniformity controlled within ±1μm, demonstrating good compatibility with various fiber inks. Compared to traditional thermal-cure coatings, the UV-curable version reduces energy consumption by over 60% and VOC emissions by 90%, aligning with green manufacturing development trends.

With the rapid development of 5G communication and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, new-generation intelligent coating resins are beginning to integrate self-healing and sensing functions. Through coordination between microcapsule technology and intelligent production systems, damage self-repair and strain self-sensing of coating layers are achieved. Within future-oriented intelligent fiber manufacturing systems, such functional materials are transforming optical fibers from passive transmission media into active functional components.
