Stainless steel refers to steel that is resistant to weak corrosive media. Such as air, steam, and water, as well as chemical corrosive media. Such as acid, alkali, and salt. It is also known as stainless acid resistant steel. Galvanized steel wire rope is used in industries like petroleum, electronics, chemical, pharmaceutical, light textile, food, machinery, construction, nuclear power, aerospace, and military.
Galvanized steel wire is made of stainless steel wire rods using pressure processing methods. Such as die drawing and rolling. Stainless steel wire materials include 201, 202, 301, 304, 316, 316L, 321, etc. And the specifications range from 0.1mm to 10mm. Customization are acceptable according to your drawing and requirements.

Parameters

The stainless steel wire for communication optical cables is usually Austenite 12Cr18Ni9 (S30200), whose chemical composition is shown in the table 3.4.2-1 as below:
Table 3.4.2-1 12 Cr18Ni9 Chemical Composition (mass fraction) of Stainless Steel Wire
Component C Si Mn P S Ni Cr
Content ≤0.15% ≤1.00% ≤2.00% ≤0.035% ≤0.030% 8.00%~10.00% 17.00%~19.00%
Processing Technology: Most stainless steel wires are drawn using the cold drawing (WCD) process, with a nominal diameter range of 0.50-4.00 mm for circular stainless steel wires
Performance and Technical Indicators:
The nominal diameter range and tensile strength level of stainless steel wire – Austenite 12Cr18Ni9 are shown in the table 3.4.2-3:
Table 3 .4 .2-3 12Cr18Ni9 Tensile Strength Index
Nominal Diameter mm Tensile Strength Level MPa
0.50~1.25 1850
>1.25~2.00 1750
>2.00~4.00 1600
The Young’s tensile modulus should be greater than 180GPa.
Stainless steel wire for optical cables shall be inspected in accordance with Stainless Steel Wire (GB/T4240-2009) or the technical agreement between the supply and demand parties.
The main factory inspection items for stainless steel wire. Include: chemical composition, diameter deviation, ellipticity, tensile strength, elastic modulus, straightness, torsion, and surface quality.
Testing Tool:Measure with a micrometer with an accuracy of 0.001mm.
The tensile test shall be carried out in accordance with the “Tensile Testing of Metal Materials Part 1: Room Temperature Test Method” (GB/T228.1-2010).
The elastic modulus shall be tested according to the Test Method for Elastic Modulus and Poisson’s Ratio of Metal Materials (GB/T22315-2008).
The surface quality shall be visually inspected, and if necessary, a magnifying glass not exceeding 10 times may be used for inspection.
Processing Performance and Purpose:
Stainless steel wire has durable and reliable cable forming properties, with good straightness and no more than 10 °/10m torsion.
The allowable deviation of stainless steel wire diameter is shown in Table 3.4.2-4:

Technology Parameters

Stainless Galvanized Steel Wire Rope Diameter and Tolerance
Nominal Diameter mm Deviation mm
0.501.00 ±0.014
>1.001.60 ±0.018
>1.602.50 ±0.023
>2.504.00 ±0.030
Its surface residue does not exceed 2g/m ², and it has the characteristics of smooth and clean surface with good quality. In this way, the stainless steel wire has good bonding strength with PE and other coating materials.
